The book is called "9".
This is page 27. Actually a page beginning because more will be done to it. None of the pages I have posted so far are considered finished. To some point this is probably the least finished but I don't know for sure at this time. Time and more pages will tell.
Stay tuned.

I am still asking for any suggestions about how to improve (save) my book project.
I am also still thinking there must be a person who can help me with the technological side of my art work. A studio assistant or Girl Friday.
I have not stopped thinking that a larger than office size scanner would make this project look better and be much more readable.
There may be one close to you that is not being used. Find it and pass it on.
Thank you.

This is the beginning of page 26 of my ongoing artists book called "9".
I do not know how to put these two scans together to show them to you as one page.
I tried several things yesterday. I am out of ideas to try for now. I will keep thinking and trying.
I will also keep working on the pages. There are a lot of pages to go and so far I have only beginnings. There are many more posts to come.

Here is today’s pitch.
Please post any advice on how to save my book pages. Please post any advice on how to turn two scans into one. Any such helpful information can be posted in the comment section below or you can follow the link to my email.
I really could use a helper. A Girl Friday who could handle the technological end of things. Working with images and web site and blog.  Everything should look better. I just don’t know how to do it.
I also think a large format flatbed scanner would help immensely. I know there is something out there just waiting to be put to use by me. That would go a long way toward making things look better.
If you can help please do.  ballard@ballardborich.com

Of course the book is still called "9" and this is my beginning for page 25.
Page 25 is the first page of the fourth signature.
(That is the 3rd page of goodness if you have been following my progress here for a while.)
What has changed is that I have found a slightly better means of showing you what a page looks like. It took me all of this time to get that together. Even if I never stated that I am technologically challenged you should have guessed it by now. Really. It's quite evident.
Before I click publish the two scans are displayed with no space between them. It sort of resembles a complete page. Once I publish the posting they separate. More evidence that I am challenged. This is my fifth effort and apparently I still lose.
That said.
I have a 3rd point to add to my daily list. I could use a gratis transcriber. A computer aid. A Girl Friday. I will probably never catch up to the levels of computer ability that I need access to. Working with images. Working with a web site. Even this blog. I spend way too much time doing things multiple times and my efforts are not successful most of the time. Hey. It took me this long to get a halfway decent representation of a book page. That was 16 posts before I got it to this level. It could be much better than this if I knew how to use the equipment at my disposal. I think.

Now.  To two more or less important points.
  1.  Please post any advice you may have about how to save this project in the comment section below. I mean it. I obviously need more guidance. It is bound to help in some way. You know it will. Don’t you?
  2.  Anyone who has anything like an Epson Expression 11000XL Photo Scanner that I can have or use please contact me at the email address just below this paragraph. A large format flatbed scanner would make this book project and the continuing posts look much better and be way easier to follow. And obviously there are lots and lots of posts to come. There are more pages to be added and then the page revisions until the book is complete. You may respond with this link.

The book you may have noticed is called "9" and this is my beginning for page 16.
It turned out a lot more design-y looking than I thought it would. As I said before I am not in complete control but I am enjoying the process. So far.
Today my biggest problem is still what I mentioned before.
My current means of presenting what I am doing on this blog is really bothering me. A lot. I have to find a better way to present my progress. I will work on that. Please feel free to help.
Once again. Two more or less important points.

The book is called "9" and this is my beginning for page 15.
If you have noticed that continuity is not my strong point so far please wish me luck.
If you didn't notice that continuity is not a strong point so far you weren't paying attention. However. You should wish me luck anyway. (And maybe pay more attention.)
I am very close to having a beginning on each page of one of five signatures of this book.  Twenty percent of a start and I am still hanging out in the unknown. I don't mean to say that I have no idea what I am doing although that is close enough to true. I don't know what the rest of this book will look like and I definitely don't know how I will pull it all together.
Mostly I am quite sure that I will find a way and it will please me when I have finished.

My current means of presenting what I am doing on this blog is really bothering me. I have to find a better way to present my progress. I will work on that.

The book is still called "9" and this is the 1st state of page 14.
I am not actually sure why I keep surprising myself. But I do.
I have been working on paper for a long time. This paper is from the 70s and although it was a student grade paper it is probably a pretty good paper by todays standards.
It is thin. I think it would be the equivalent of a 70 lb watercolor paper if it was a 22X30 sheet.
I am working on this paper not stretched and I normally work on blocks or on very thick papers.
It is also quite a rough paper and I normally work on hot pressed (smooth) papers.
I haven't changed my aqueous mediums that much. Perhaps I am using a little more paint than normal but I have always used a lot of water.
So basically I am not sure why I keep surprising myself but that is alright. For now.

Now to two more important points.
1.  Please post any advice you may have about how to save this project in the comment section below. I mean it. So far only one person has participated. I obviously need more guidance even if I am going to ignore it. It is bound to help in some way. You know it will.

The book is called "9" and this is the 1st state of page 13.
I still have some of that confidence left. I am sure this project isn't doomed to failure. However. If I am wrong and it is doomed to failure it will be one of my more successful failures. Believe me. And if you don't believe me just keep watching. Even if I don't post every day (I do hope to) I will keep posting the progress of this book on this blog. Thank you in advance for following.

The book is called "9" and this is the first state of page 12.
I have started one half of a signature's worth of pages and I really am more confused now than when I started. I wrote PEACE on this page three times. One of them has disappeared. Oh well.
It is a good thing that I enjoy this sort of fun and games. It is a good thing that I still have some confidence left. I haven't failed so far but if I do I am sure I will fail successfully.
Don't pass up the chance to offer your advice about how to save this project. Any advice at all can be posted in the comment section below. No matter what you think I should do it can't be any further from making sense than what I am already doing.
So think about it. Make up your mind. Pass it on.
Anything you have to offer will be appreciated.
Post that thought right now.

The book is called "9" and this is the first state of page 11.
If you think I was worried yesterday just look at what I have done to myself now.
I have no idea how I am going to get out of this. It may be time to call for help from some one who knows what I am doing. Since I don't know what I am doing it will be hard to figure out who to call. If you know what I should do other than burn the project just write your thoughts in the comment section below. Thank you in advance.
I have told my friend Sam over and over again that art is more about the process than it is about the product. I am beginning to think I should have changed my philosophical view while we were having that discussion.

The book is called "9" and this is the 1st state of page 10.
I have only started two pages of a forty page book and I am already a little bothered about how I will save this project.
A lot of what I do is not based on a formula. I start into things with no proven method and just keep working my way through. I like working that way. It is invigorating and wakes one up. Constantly.
Usually it looks a bit more promising than this.
And I don't normally reference Ren & Stimpy.
Those last two sentences are quite a bit of the bother.

The 1st state of page nine of the book I am working on called "9".
As you can see I still have lots of work ahead of me.
Each page is 12.75 X 9.5 inches the paper is 70 lb rough w/c paper made many years ago for Grumbacher by who knows who. The original sheets were 19 X 25.5 inches. Each sheet is folded into a signature and there are five signatures for a total of forty pages
My apologies for the way it is scanned.
Wish me luck.
