"For Rick"

Photography still.
There is one photo in the group for this week that was not taken within the last few days. Let it be known. This one is not it.
This single dandelion popped up in the back yard all by its lonesome a couple of days ago. It was the only one after a spring that brought so many. It was yellow. It was bright. It caught my eye.
Yellow is such a difficult color to use in art work for me. And with what I think I have seen it can be difficult for others.
I know that the weed status can mean so much to some. However. A bunch of bright and showy dandelions always make me smile and also make me a little jealous of natures ability to use yellow so well.

"The Niche"

Photography for a week.
Another lensless digital photograph. I enjoy taking a look around close to home and finding some suitable things to point a camera toward. The concept of taking photos that are not clear or not sharp and exposed oddly has always appealed to me.
Mark Mussio worked at Jack's Camera and developed many many rolls of film of mine. When we met later in life he said that all he could think at the time was "What is this guy doing?"
I really do like doing things my way. It's the only way I know.

Digital photography without a lens.

I enjoy my own version of expression. It takes three main forms for me. Art-works. Word-works. Photo-works. I enjoy all three. All three forms have been posted on this site from time to time and will continue to be.

That said.
I am a fan of film. I really like instant film. Out of date Polaroid, Fuji color and black&white, Impossible Project, all of these take photos that have a character that can be used to my advantage. I have been using black&white film in small nicer cameras and in some cameras that were not very good at all.
A couple of years ago a good friend of mine gave me a Fuji S5 Pro digital SLR. I used some of the lenses that actually go with it but mostly I have been trying to use all of my hand made lens substitutes. This photo was taken with a body cap that has a hole drilled in it and a zone plate attached. I am using that combination as my camera of the week.
I plan to continue to do more digital photography with handmade lensless and lens based items.  If I can attach it to a body cap or a T-mount adapter I want to try it.

"The Decad"

Pythagorean Chant to 10

O holy tetraktys, thou that containest the root and the source of the eternally flowing creation! For the Divine Number begins with the profound, pure Unity until it comes to the whole Four, then it begets the never tiring holy Ten, the keyholder of all!

For some time this blog has been receiving relatively regular and greatly appreciated comments from,

The ability to leave comments from the cave has been interrupted by something that is much more advanced than the cave's or my electronic intelligence.  (No great feat.)
Would any and all who are reading this who have ever considered it please try to post a comment. It may help us figure out what the interruption may be.
If it won't work or you know how to fix it please let me know at ballard @ballardborich.com
Thank You.
